Doing business sustainably and responsibly has long been one of the Dalli Group’s central values. We promote and demand concrete, focused sustainability solutions integrated into our daily business. As part of our environmental management system, we collect, process and analyse relevant, established data as the basis for our objectives and environmental programmes which seek to achieve continuous improvement of our environmental impact. All targets listed in Commit for our Planet are related to our complete product portfolio.

On the way to a common sustainable future, it is not enough to anchor the topic of sustainability in one’s own company. In our view, working with as many partnerships as possible and participating in appropriate local and global initiatives is an important element in improving social, environmental and economic values across the board. It is therefore a matter of great importance to us to participate in the Cosmetics Europe sustainability initiative.

Climate

We aim to reduce CO2 emissions (scope 1 and 2) by 2% per year, based on a 2016 baseline. Since 2009, we have been working to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with our industrial activities. We have improved energy efficiency in all our facilities (buildings, equipment, etc.) and analyzed the possibilities for using alternative energies. Wherever possible, more climate-friendly alternative energy sources are used. Increasingly, currently unavoidable emissions, based on life cycle analyses according to the GHG Protocol, are identified and compensated for via recognized climate protection projects. This allows us to assume responsibility for our emissions and support global climate protection.

Packaging

For over 20 years, we have been pursuing a responsible approach to our packaging based on the following pillars:

  • Reduction of material use
  • Preferential use of materials from renewable sources and/or certified sustainable sources
  • Increasing the percentage of recycled material
  • Improving recyclability

We systematically analyze the environmental profile of our packaging to identify opportunities for improvement and aim to reduce the impact of our packaging by 2% per year, based on a 2016 baseline.

Nature

Commitment: Act for nature through sustainable ingredient sourcing

The use of renewable materials, sustainable land use and the associated preservation of biodiversity are significant contributors to keeping our environmental impact as low as possible. We, therefore, focus on the procurement of the most important natural materials from sustainably certified sources. Our current focus is on the procurement of sustainable palm (kernel) oil, raw materials from controlled organic cultivation for our natural cosmetic products, and paper-based materials for our packaging from sustainable forestry.  The reduction of the negative impacts caused by the use of materials is continuously monitored via our environmental performance indicators, with a strategic goal of annual improvement of at least 2%, based on a 2016 baseline.
